brenda kisaparwoth
My name is Brenda Kisaparwoth, a peasant farmer living in pacoga village, in my village, our community members didn’t know much about a clean sanitation and the situation was very terrible in most homes. People were disposing fecal matter outside, no rubbish pits, bathing shelter and drying rack and pit latrines for the basic hygiene practices in homes. Diseases like, diarrhea, dysentery, bilharzia, typhoid among others were very common because the area they live in is contaminated with waste particles. When it rains the situation in the village deteriorates, it smells full of human fecal and all this fasces is washed into the nearby water sources and the Nile River which people go and fetch for drinking and domestic use. With the state of sanitation in our village, a team of health workers from feat Africa through Pakwach district came to our village and trained us on living with a healthy sanitation and hygiene around our homes. Since the day we were trained on hygiene and sanitation management in homes by feat Africa, our village has seen an immeasurable change in the side of hygiene in homes. The rate of infections in the village has reduced. Typhoid, diarrhea, dysentery, bilharzia cases among other diseases has greatly reduced. “we no longer high rate of infections like before because people living in the community have adopted the idea of putting in place latrines, rubbish pits, bathing shelter, drying rack for utensils and at home. Says Kisaparwoth.” We thank feat Africa and Pakwach district local government for the support and educating us in our village on keeping our sanitation clean. May God bless you in the works you do in the communities.
